Ace Comic Con held their first Arizona convention back in 2018 and it was the first location to have the event a second time which happened in 2019. The convention brought some of the biggest names in entertainment such as Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Tom Hiddleston, and Taron Egerton as guests to an Arizona convention for the first time. The convention brought in attendees from all over the country but it never really caught on with locals. I reached out to President of Ace Universe Stephen Shamus to ask for a comment on why they chose not to return for a third year or if they would ever return in general. I didn’t get a reply from Stephen but I did hear from instead Jacquelyn of the PR Department.
“Arizona provided an incredible atmosphere for our shows in 2018 and 2019, where we were able to host world-class events with a community of outstanding superhero fans. Arizona will continue to be a market that we look to connect with, and we hope to bring another memorable ACE weekend to the area in the future.
We saw a high demand to come back to the Northeast in 2020, where ACE first premiered in 2017 in Long Island, New York. Celebrity schedules, combined with our efforts to bring the unique ACE experience to new fans of these superhero franchises, led us to Boston for our first show of 2020.”
No commitment to returning but we shall see what the future holds.
