Local haunt shop Terror Trader (located in Chandler, I did an episode of Phoenix Pop Culture that you can check out here) is back again with their own convention: Gathering of the Ghouls. This horror convention is still new-ish with having its first event last year (and then a holiday themed spin-off show) and they are looking to improve year two.
This event is obviously marketed to horror fans but as someone who really isn’t into horror all that much, I still had an enjoyable time last year. Over 100 vendors, media guests, film screenings, and an entire photo op room make this an enjoyable weekend at a relatively low price (which if you have followed for any amount of time, you know my disdain for the Mesa Convention Center). The pricing breaks down as follows:
August 24 & 25 at the Mesa Convention Center
Full Weekend Badge: $35.98 after taxes + fees
* this gets you an actual badge you as opposed to a wristband for single day entry. You will also be able to pick up your order at Terror Trader starting on August 10 and there will be a dedicated line for entry for badge holders at the con. Sold only online, not a door.
Saturday Wristband: $25.31
Sunday Wristband: $19.98
VIP: Sold Out
One of the things I am looking forward to is the previously mentioned photo op room where they have themed “sets’, some with live actors, for you to take photos with. This year’s sets includes Five Nights at Freddy’s set and a Silent Hill set. For more information on the upcoming Gathering of the Ghouls including hotel details, guests, and cosplay, click it here.
