Tucson Comic-Con 2023 was held this past weekend at the Tucson Convention Center. Now that Tucson Comic-Con has moved to Labor Day weekend (for the first time in 2022), I have to split the weekend between Tucson and Saboten Con back in Phoenix. Also, while we are on the topic of dates, it is confirmed that Tucson Comic-Con will be held during Labor Day weekend in 2024 (which you can see on the 2024 calendar!).
My thoughts on Tucson Comic-Con are generally positive. To me it is one of the best exhibit halls in Arizona in terms of what is being sold and offered. Everything is spaced out quite nicely as well as the added benefit of being able to access the food trucks directly from the exhibit hall. The convention puts a big emphasis on cosplay and cosplay groups with multiple photo op stations both in the exhibit floor and the main floor hallway which is always popular with attendees.
The guest lineup was solid but Tucson has never really made guests the big spectacle that some other conventions do which is totally fine. There is still plenty to do outside of the exhibit hall with panels, a gaming room, stand up comedy, and a cosplay contest to name just a few. See you in Tucson next year!
