Summer is in full swing and we still have plenty of events and conventions across the state (and I am still upset about learning of Tombstone Redemption too late). Let’s get into some of the latest updates for several conventions.
Game On Expo
The video game and anime convention returns to Downtown Phoenix with 39 guests and counting! Voice actors, industry guests, cosplayers, and content creators will be in attendance for the three con on August 11 – 13. With more possibly announced before the con, its a pretty awesome lineup already. For the full list, check out the Game On Expo site and pick up your badge while you’re there.
Saboten Con
We’ve previously talked about Saboten Con having a new addition this year called SaboSlam which will be held at the nearby Renaissance hotel. Even with it being close, walking a block or so in the September heat (especially in cosplay) can be very unpleasant. Saboten recently had two announcements to help attendees get from one location to the other a little bit easier. Firstly, Saboten will have UV umbrellas on sale for $5 at the registration area to use when walking between the two hotels (plus water!!). Second, there will also be Pedal Bike Cabs to get you from one hotel to the other, free of charge. Nice! Saboten Con takes place September 1-4.
Tucson Comic-Con
Tucon’s largest comic convention returns to Labor Day weekend with an already impressive list of comic creators including Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Christopher Priest, Joe Jusko(!!), Val Hochberg, and Matt Hawkins to name a few. On the celebrity side of things, Chandler Riggs from The Walking Dead has been announced as a guest. Tucson Comic-Con takes place September 1-3.
Horror Fest
Horror Fest returns to Mesa at the Sheraton at Wrigleyville West October 20-22. The guest list this year includes Sean Gunn from The Guardians of the Galaxy.
UwU Con
In addition to the previously announced Taylor Gray and Vanessa Marshall who both voice characters in Star Wars Rebels, UwU con recently announced the addition of Freddie Prinze Jr. Freddie has had numerous roles in many films as well as voicing Kanan in Star Wars Rebels. UwU Con takes place October 27-29.
Connichiwa
Tucson’s longest running anime convention returns November 3-5 and badges are currently on sale. You have until September 11 to get a full weekend badge for $40+ taxes and fees.
All dates and links for these conventions can be found on the 2023 Events page.
